I have to start ordering my ground cover to plant along side of our driveway. Gardening season is coming up fast and I'm not going to be ready for it.

What ground cover do you use for next to the driveway?
I was going to plant lavender, but I dont think I have enough seed.

I'm planning on planting thyme. It has a dense foliage that will keep out weeds, it grows very quickly, the roots will be long and dense enough to hold the soil in place, it has beautiful flowers in the summer, stays green the rest of the year, is winter hardy in my area and has a nice smell when stepped on. There is a variety of thyme. Here's a link:

Does anyone here use a heat lamp to start their seeds?
If so, what kind?

Is it the same kind sold in pet stores for reptiles?

Thank you.

I received my red reaspberry stems in the mail yesterday from Gurney's....too bad there's 3 inches of snow on the ground! :-)

I found a grow lightbulb at Home Depot. They are not cheap ($5), but I hope it works! Only time will tell.

I followed the directions on the seed packages, and it seems that the seeds I've started are not coming up.

So...I may have to start all over again. This time, I will do it with the grow light I've got, and use those little pods to start the seeds. I hope those work better.

Any pointers?

Thank you.
