| I read a tip on Thriftyfun some weeks back and meant to post the link here but forgot, so I'll see if i can find it again. Basically this lady suggested wrapping gifts in kitchen foil (shiny side out). Great idea if you're caught short of wrapping paper, you don't even need sticky-tape as the foil stays in place after it's been wrapped around the gift. Any colour of ribbon would go with the silver too. I thought it was a really neat idea in a pinch! _________________ ~ By sowing frugality we reap liberty, a golden harvest. --Agesilaus ~ |

| I found it! Here's the post:

As another poster pointed out, it's not really environmentally friendly (same as paper) and suggested that cloth re-usable giftbags would be better. But if you're caught short and it's a smaller gift, it's still a good idea, plus it can be recycled. _________________ ~ By sowing frugality we reap liberty, a golden harvest. --Agesilaus ~ |

| I grew up using the comics to wrap gifts for birthday parties.
You can use all kinds of sections of the newspaper.
Use the Wedding and Engagement announcement pages for wrapping shower and wedding gifts.
Use the Sports section for men and boys.
Entertainment section for theatre fans.
Real Estate section for house warming gifts.
If you want to add some color use a light coat of watercolor paints and let dry before you wrap. |

| I have found that in a pinch, those plastic newspaper sleeves can be cut to fit like an envelope...and then taped and decorated if you want....they seem particularly handy for musical and movie CDs....they are also good for storing small items like miniture Christmas ornaments... _________________ Love is a fruit, in season at all times and within the reach of every hand.
