Just a thought here....but I was wondering since some of us may be crafting some of our Christmas gifts this year if we wanted to use the monthly craft challenge to spur us on and help us to complete gifts by the month? If we wanted we could specify the craft, the intended recipient, our progress and if completed at the end of the month by which time we should wrap or bag it and label it and stash it in a gift closet/drawer? Then we could cross it off our gift-list if we have one Smile
It sure would help to encourage me!

This is a great idea. Now I have to come up with some ideas for gifts. Thanks for the idea. Who wants to lead the thread?

As far as crafted gifts go, for adults...calendars and recipe books are things that would be easy to make in multiples (especially if using your computer). A recipe book could perhaps include a matching set of oven mitts and tea-towels as there's lots of time to keep an eye out for sales on those Wink
Or maybe even a cookie recipe book accompanied by a baking tray or cutely shaped cookie cutters?
If we do this each month, we could help each other out with extra ideas perhaps? Smile
For a few close friends I'll be knitting a few mini-stocking garlands as Christmas decor. For nieces I'm knitting scarves (again...lol), they got handbags last year purchases in clearance sales.
I read a great tip about recycling baby/toddler clothes by turning them into hot water bottle covers for kids, how cute does that sound?
Please add as many crafted gift ideas as you can think of to help each other out Very Happy

What great ideas Skin. I found one for my sil. It is a terra cotta pot painted in brown and ecru stripes. The rim is covered in coffee beans and then there is stenciled coffee cup on the pot also. Her kitchen is decorated in a coffee house theme so I thought this would be cute. I could make a coffee flavored snack, or homemade creamers or homemade flavored coffees etc.. to put in a bag to set in the pot and then she could use the pot for a plant, utensils or whatever.

Sounds perfect Vicki, you'd be off to a great start Wink

You know, I really like that idea. If you know someone loves a certain theme, you can keep an eye out for something reasonably priced and add some kind of homemade touch to accompany it. Thanks for the idea Vicki Smile

Is everyone happy to go with a gift per month craft challenge in early preparation for Christmas?

I just finished knitting my first scarf gift last night but I like it myself and want to keep it now Laughing
Hopefully I'll get a pic posted after I sew in the loose threads Razz
Luckily I've got more of the same wool and can make a couple more. I'm hoping to do at least one more in April. I still have charity items I want to make so will fit it around that.

Skin I like the idea. I was gonna start the one I mentioned using the terra cotta pot but then I would be buying something new. Not sure what to do as anything I want to craft I will have to purchase the items to use.

This is my first crafted gift for Christmas. It's a long chunky scarf, oranges/reds/browns with gold through it also. I have enough wool to knit two more so I can keep one! Very Happy

I'm making a blue bobbly-mix one next month for another gift.

Did anyone else manage to craft a gift this month?
